About the event

Who is this workshop for?

  • For anyone who wants to learn how to meditate AND stick with it;
  • For anyone who has tried to meditate and thought they were doing it “wrong” or didn’t “get it”;
  • For anyone who has an existing meditation practice and simply wants to learn ways of deepening their own practice.

What can I expect to learn?

  • Posture.  You will learn ways to sit (not just cross-legged!) so that the spine is upright, not uptight. Plus, experiment with a host of other postural options as well.
  • Sensations.  You will learn that the first foundation of mindfulness is to become aware of the body. You’ll spend time in experiential mindfulness exercises to feel first-hand exactly what to pay attention to whenand why.
  • Breathing.  The breath is one of the top techniques used to start and maintain a meditation practice. You will explore the different ways to cultivate mindfulness of the breath. No matter where the mind goes, the breath is always in the present moment.
  • Questions!   There will be ample time to ask questions before and after each of the meditation exercises to receive personal feedback and tips on your experiences.

Jessica Webb Official BIO:

Jessica Webb is a certified MBSR teacher and is qualified to instruct yoga at the E-RYT 500 level. She has been teaching mindfulness programs and yoga for the past 11 years and pours her energy into workshops, group classes on mindfulness, meditation, stress reduction, and mindful yoga for those wishing to lead a richer and fuller life.

Her dharma-infused teaching style and playful demeanor lend themselves to a relaxed and light-hearted experience for her students. Warmth, compassion, friendliness and humor come through her instructions enmeshed with wisdom, care and attentiveness.

She is the former owner of "Anchor Yoga and Meditation Studio" which operated from 2015 - 2020. Anchor Yoga was a thriving mindfulness-based yoga studio in Mattapoisett, MA, offering a variety of classes, events and workshops, but ultimately closed as a result of the pandemic.

In 2017, she founded Project Wheel House, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation dedicated to increasing self-reliance and fostering emotional resiliency in at-risk and vulnerable communities. Project Wheel House offered free yoga, meditation, and mindfulness programs along the Southcoast of Massachusetts to these communities in an effort to reduce suffering and the harmful effects of trauma. Jessica has taught the Path of Freedom© prison mindfulness program at a local corrections facility, mindfulness at a women’s jail and served as founder and board president.

To further solidify her mindfulness teaching pathway, she underwent an 18-month-long intensive yoga-and-Buddhist-studies program, Mindfulness Yoga and Meditation Training at Spirit Rock Meditation Center (led by Phillip MoffittAnne Cushman, and Will Kabat-Zinn) in 2014 to 2016. She continues to fill her well with frequent silent retreats in the Vipassana tradition at the Insight Meditation Society, Mount Madonna Center, Vallecitos Mountain Refuge, and Barre Center for Buddhist Studies. Her current and past influences include: Jill Satterfield, Janice Gates, Pascal Auclair, Leslie Booker and Sharon Salzberg.
